As a Kushoto traveler, exploring Kitui was a unique and eye-opening experience. The region is steeped in supernatural beliefs and traditions that add an extra layer of mystery and intrigue to the landscape. From the Nzambani Rock to the Kituluni Hills, there is no shortage of supernatural wonders to explore and discover.

Despite the harsh climate and lack of water, the people of Kitui are incredibly hardworking and resourceful. They have managed to cultivate and harvest crops in a land that many would perceive as barren. Their resilience and determination are truly admirable and make for an unforgettable travel experience.

Staying at the Teetotaler's Loft, a name given because getting up there while tipsy would be challenging, was an incredible experience that offered a glimpse into the rich history and culture of the region. The loft is a beautifully thatched granary that has been uninhabited for years, and staying there was a therapeutic experience that offered a sense of tranquility and peace that was unmatched.

The people of Kitui are also known for their colorful attire and their love of celebration. Even in the face of adversity, they always find a reason to celebrate and have fun. The funeral I attended was a perfect example of this, as it was a joyous celebration of life that was filled with color and music.

All in all, exploring Kitui as a Kushoto traveler was an incredible experience that opened my eyes to the beauty and complexity of the region. The people, the landscape, and the supernatural beliefs all came together to create an unforgettable travel experience that will stay with me and team Kushoto for years to come.

Many thanks to our hosr Regina Mutiru and the entire Kamusiliu for the hospitality.
